Today, many regard as leadership whatever they have observed and parroted from apparent role models wherever they may be – without much concern for quality! The primary seductive qualification appears to be power or its proxy, financial wealth. Sadly, non-leadership blunts brilliance. Increasingly today, the rare observer with wise, adult discernment confronts dumb stuff – often appalling examples – for what not to do in the name of leadership.
I have never seen more opportunities for leadership development for those with wise discernment. Fortunately, I can offer very constructive examples of unusually competent leaders (not merely people in positions of authority). Observe the courage in their initiative, the core human values reflected in their strong and thoughtful words, and the wise stand they take in the organizations they lead.
The following article, “All In The Same Boat Now: Apple responds to U.S. President Trump’s executive order on immigration,” was written by Rene Ritchie, and was distributed by iMore, a Mobile Nations e-publication, on January 28th, 2017:

“Apple and Cook have been front-and-center on the issues of privacy and equal opportunity over the last several years, so it’s great to see them continuing to share their vision on social and legal issues. And, as Wikipedia reminds:

“Google’s Sundar Pichai also sent out a memo to employees, obtained by Bloomberg:
“‘It’s painful to see the personal cost of this executive order on our colleagues,’ Pichai wrote in the memo, a copy of which was obtained by Bloomberg News. ‘We’ve always made our view on immigration issues known publicly and will continue to do so.’

“When we combine the effect this will have with rumors that Chinese companies are set to significantly raise prices to offset any trade restrictions put in place by the current administration, we see a troubling future for the electronics sector as a whole. In these disconcerting days, this is just a sample of such core-human-values-oriented initiatives by real leaders. We can be very grateful for such adults. Most people taking such initiatives are not CEOs. Few are famous. Yet, more are standing each day. Are they emulating your leadership?
